Love LETTERS
When we planned making mailboxes for Valentine's Day and picked the theme for this past week - Love Letters - we could not have predicted how much these offerings would spark a newfound joy in sending love notes. Once the first mailbox was placed in its cubby, the mail started pouring in. Pictures and stickers on paper, carefully thought out messages, giant hearts cut out, all went into the boxes. Learners of all ages were enjoying the simple act of spreading love. <3
For the remainder of the week, usual offerings took a back seat to letter writing and valentine making. Kids were genuinely disappointed when they made someone a valentine, only to realize they had not made a mailbox yet. Because not only were the valentines homemade and one-of-a-kind, the mailboxes were all crafted and created to be unique and beautiful. As much as I enjoyed sifting through all my craft supplies to find all things pink and red, I loved watching learners pick through all the goodies. Hearing their oohs and ahhs as they found something special to add to their mailbox made me smile and filled me with the warm fuzzies that one should feel on a day devoted to love!
We hope everyone is able to join us for our first official Hello Friends! Story Time of 2023 on Wednesday, February 15th at 10am on the East Lawn outside of the link. We will also be hosting a Sapna Families Valentine's Day Party later in the afternoon at 12pm. All Sapna Families are welcome. If you are participating in the valentine exchange, please bring a valentine for everyone (ask Ms. Jo for the list). If you would like to bring a treat or snacks, please try to avoid artificial dyes (especially Red 40) as many of our students have some restrictions to their diets.
Happy Valentine's Day! <3
